Our History
Just prior to me entering high school in the fall of 1960, our old Collie was struck by a car and killed.  Although we had always had registered Collies, my brother and I were determined to have a German Shepherd.  Our interest in, and eventual love for Shepherds, was born out of a book Rin Tin Tin's Rinty which had been given to us by a cousin.  Our parents, aware of the reputation for aggression which Shepherds often carry, were initially against us having a Shepherd.  However, when our grandmother intervened and offered to purchase a puppy for us, Mother and Father gave in.  We purchased an AKC registered sable puppy, and from the day we brought him home, we knew that there would never be any other canine breed for us.  Rocky was the embodiment of true Shepherd temperament, nobility, intelligence, and trainability.  Sadly, we had him for only five years when he too was struck by an automobile and killed.  At that point we were without a dog for about two years until the people who lived next door to the house I was renting while in college gave me Karla.  Karla was a Ch. Quell vom haus Kilmark granddaughter, and from her, my parents and I raised our first litter of puppies in the fall of 1966.  From an all-black Karla daughter by Rittmeister's Jawohl, we raised several nice litters, breeding to Ch. Flash of Clover Acres, Sel. Ch. Junger-Haus Ceasar, and Ch. Wellspring's Cyclone of Ro-an.  In the summer of 1974, I had the good fortune of meeting Marge Dolan, and I was able to purchase a Rhyme/Reno daughter, Dolmar's Esprit of Springrock.  "Spice", as we called her, was a wonderful, devoted house pet and companion, and she was our first serious show dog.  She should have had her championship and her ROM, but things are not always the way they should be in the world of dogs.  When bred to Ch. Clover Acres' X-Citation, Spice produced Ch. Taxation, Ch. Tarnation, and Ch. Temptation.  Other stud dogs to whom we have bred over the years are Ch. Paulo, GV Ch. Sukee's Mannix, Zeus of Fran-Jo, Ch. Proven Hill's a Sunhawk,  and Ch. Darby Dan's Gator.  However, it has been Ch. Temptation's daughter, grandaughters, and now his seventh generation granddaughter, Von Bruker's Mariah of Heritance Acres who have carried on our lines for us.  Mariah has proven with her first litter to be an easy whelper and an excellent mother.  Her next breeding in the summer of 2021 will be carefully planned to an exceptional stud dog. Currently, we have a repeat litter from Sky's the Limit of Lyloak and Baratheon von Haven.  This breeding combines the very best of American show lines with outstanding West German lines.  We also offer a litter out of Von Bruker's Image of Heritance Acres by Baratheon von Haven.  Our hope for Von Bruker's Nova of Heritance Acres is that you will see her in the show ring this coming show season.  Nova has excellent conformation, movement, and temperament.  Commitment to our family and budget constraints have limited our breeding program and our showing.  However, we have been devoted to the German Shepherd breed for 56 years, and while we breed only one or two litters a year, each litter we produce is a carefully thought-out attempt to make it the best litter yet.  Although our obvious successes have been few and far between, we are seasoned in our knowledge of the German Shepherd breed which we so greatly love and respect.
